The Neuwerk National Park House is the central information center of the Hamburg Wadden Sea National Park and Biosphere Reserve and is located only 200 meters from the famous Neuwerk Lighthouse. In this inviting house you can explore the history of the island and the formation of the Wadden Sea, get to know the typical flora and fauna of Neuwerk as well as the two small ‘sister’ islands Scharhörn and Nigehörn. The focus is on the fascinating bird life. A special attraction is the large tidal basin, where you can experience high and low tide up close – the engine of the Wadden Sea habitat.
The National Park House also offers an event room with a large panoramic window and a view of the meadows for groups of all kinds (please reserve). Binoculars, magnifying glasses and more are available, as are nature films and Neuwerk crime scenes. The gallery on the upper floor presents art and specialized exhibitions, such as the story of the bird watchers on Scharhörn, which was shown in the summer of 2020.
Employees of the Jordsand Association are always available at the National Park House if you have any questions or would like a guided tour of the exhibitions. Most of the guided tours and events offered by the National Park Authority and the Jordsand Association also start from here.
