The Griebel family has a long history on Neuwerk and has been deeply rooted on the island for generations. The Hotel Nige Hus is a project close to the heart of the family, which they run with great attention to detail and a sustainable approach. In addition to the unique location and the special atmosphere, the guests of the Nige Hus appreciate above all the warm hospitality of the Griebel family and their team. Whether at the cozy breakfast in the winter garden of the hotel or at the social gathering at the bar of the Anker – here you feel immediately welcome and at home.
The Griebel family has lived on Neuwerk since the 18th century and the Anker was opened in 1974. In the meantime, the restaurant has become an integral part of island life and it is hard to imagine life without it. Lüder and Anneliese Griebel had their hands full coping with the first difficult years and can now look proudly at what the former Anker has become.
During the winter months, when all the businesses on Neuwerk are closed, renovations, additions and conversions have been and continue to be carried out. This should answer one or two questions about what the islanders do in winter… But despite all the modernizations, the unique charm and history of the house have always been preserved. The second generation, Christian Griebel and his wife Svenja, came to the island in 1997 to join their parents’ business.
There was not enough space for three generations, so two guest rooms and two group rooms became the Nige Hus with double rooms, suites and an apartment for the young family with their two children. Together they managed the restaurant and the hotel and realized many new projects. From the idea to offer the guests something special and unique, Christian Griebel developed and built the Tüdelüt and a little later the Wattoase was added. He has been the owner since 2012, but can still count on the active support of his parents.
Christian Griebel is not only the owner of the Hotel Nige Hus, but also the island chairman of Neuwerk. Together with his wife Svenja and his family, he is committed to ensuring that Neuwerk remains a unique place worth living in in the future. This is also reflected in the philosophy of the family business. For example, regional products are preferred and energy is supplied by renewable energies. The rooms were also designed sustainably and furnished with ecological materials.

Sehr gut
Das Personal war sehr freundlich, nett und hilfsbereit. Fahrräder standen für die Hotelgäste kosten frei und unkompliziert zur Verfügung. Die hauseigene Bibliothek ist umfangreich und für jeden bestimmt was dabei. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Zeit dort genossen.

In herrlicher Lage mit wunderschöner Aussicht auf Natur und Wetter befindet sich das Hotel. Besonders hervorzuheben ist dabei der lichtdurchflutete Wintergarten.
A wonderful stay in a beautiful landscape. The journey was a bit difficult; the boat wasn't running. This "problem" was quickly and unbureaucratically resolved by Mr. Griebel, the hotel owner. The mudflat wagon ride was a little adventure! We had a wonderful suite, the food was very good and plentiful. The breakfast buffet was varied, with the homemade jam being particularly noteworthy. We'll definitely be back!
Ein schnuckeliges verlängertes Wochenende
Ein Traum von einem Zimmer. nLecker Frühstück nFulminante Küche:nDer Fisch ist ja schon klasse, aber der Matjes erst... nWir sind rundrum zufrieden. Nicht nur das Ambiente, sondern auch die Gastgeber laden zum Wiederkommen ein. n...ach ja, die Insel auch.nAbsolut entschleunigend somit:nEmpfehlenswert.
Ein Kurzurlaub, der keine Wünsche offen lie
Für uns begann der Kurzurlaub bereits mit dem überaus freundlichen Empfang an der Fähranlegestelle und dem anschließenden kostenlosen Gepäcktransport durch das Hotelpersonal. Die Herzlichkeit setzte sich während des gesamten Aufenthalts fort. Frühstück zwar eher überschaubar, jedoch qualitativ tadellos. Zimmer mit Meerblick und großem windgeschützen Balkon sehr großzügig bemessen. Bad groß und hell. Bis zum Deich mit herrlichem Blick auf Scharhörn und Nigehörn sowie das Wattenmeer nur 30 Meter. Ambiente im Frühstücksraum freundlich und mit einer gelungenen Mischung aus Wohlfühlathmosphäre und Zweckmäßigkeit. Räumlichkeiten in der Restauration rustikal und mit Liebe zum Detail maritim (Insel eben!) eingerichtet. Windgeschützter Außenbereich, sodass auch dort problemlos exzellent zubereitete Speisen und kühle Getränke (große Auswahl aus einer gekonnt zusammengestellten Karte) verzehrt werden konnten. Motivation, Verhalten, fachliche Kompetenz, Aufgeschlossenheit und Freundlichkeit des gesamten Service-Personals sind besonders hervozuheben. Auch "Sonderwünsche" stellten kein Problem dar. Von der Dachterrase des Hotels aus komfortablen Sitzgelegenheiten ein prima Überblick über große Teile der Insel mit dem Leuchtturm als Blickfang. Es gab jederzeit einen Ansprechpartner, sodass keine Fragen unbeantwortet blieben.

I only visited the restaurant and found the staff extremely friendly. The food was good but a bit overpriced.
Ein perfekter Ort, um mal von dem Alltag zu fliehen. Tolle Zimmer und ein sehr leckeres Essen. Unheimlich nette Gastgeber. Einfach nur zu empfehlen.
Sehr gerne wieder
Der Aufenthalt war genauso wie wir ihn uns vorgestellt haben. Das Personal war super freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Zimmer war groß und sehr gut ausgestattet. Mit dem Frühstück kann man bei diesem Preis überhaupt nicht meckern. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!!

Hotel Nige Hus - Erholung von A-Z
Das Hotel Nige Hus steht für fantastischen Service, großzügige und schön eingerichtete, helle Zimmer/Suiten und Gastrfreundschaft! Die Familie Griebel, der das Hotel und das angeschlossene Restaurant “Zum Anker” gehört, nimmt jeden Gast mit offenen Armen auf. In der Nacht erholt man sich in Betten mit guten Matratzen und genießt die Stille. nKinder sind auch herzlich willkommen! Der Frühstücksraum bietet einen herrlichen Blick auf den Leuchtturm. Das Buffet erfüllt alle Essenswünsche hervorragend! Eier, Obst, diverse Brotaufstriche, Müsliauswahl, Quark, Käse und Wurst – und alles schmeckt richtig gut. Mittags und Abends kann man sich durch die Karte des Ankers schlemmen. Vor allem die Bratkartoffeln muss man probiert haben. Nachmittags läßt es sich auf der Terasse oder Dachterasse im Strandkorb bei leckeren, selbstgebackenen Kuchen und Torten wunderbar aushalten.nMinigolf und riesen Sandkisten, sowie die Pferde auf der Koppel vorm Haus, oder nebenan im Stall sorgen für genügend Abwechlsung. Vom Nige Hus ist man schnell am Schiffsanleger oder auch bei der Badestelle. Die Anreise wird gut organisiert: entweder setzt die Pferdekutsche einen direkt vor der Tür ab, oder man wird am Schiffsanleger abgeholt.nDie vier Griebels sind tolle Gastgeber, die es immer wieder schaffen, dass wir entspannte, tolle Tage auf Neuwerk verbringen und direkt den nächsten Urlaub wieder buchen!nKleiner Tip: Nie dem Wetter bericht trauen, wenn zuviel Regen angesagt ist, meistens schafft es die Sonne doch noch durch die Wolken. Und sollte man doch mal nass geworden sein, Eiergrog und der Holzofen wärmen einen schnell wieder auf!
Service was a bit slow. The view was superb. The fish (pickled mackerel and hake) was delicious, a large portion at a very fair price. I didn't stay overnight, so I can't rate the room.
